In my twenties, life was a blur of long hours in London’s spa life with its grind, followed by late nights immersed in the pulsing rhythm of the Ministry of Sound. Back then, it felt like we had it all, music, magic, and mayhem wrapped up in a chaotic lifestyle of fast living and fleeting joys. But beneath the surface, something essential was missing.
The cracks in our glamorous façades started to show. Exhaustion and burnout crept into our lives, dimming the thrill of the superficial delights. It was during this time that I first heard about Reiki. A few friends had begun practicing and experiencing it, and to those of us still clinging to our distractions, it was as if they’d undergone an alchemical transformation. They carried a quiet serenity that seemed to defy the chaos we lived in, a glow of peace that no night out or promotion could replicate.
At the time, I didn’t understand it. I thought Reiki was just another spiritual practice for people searching for “something.” I wasn’t ready to confront myself to look inward and ask the uncomfortable questions. It’s only now, looking back, that I see what they had begun to do. They weren’t running from life as we knew it; they were running back to themselves. Self recovery if only o had known them. Imagine how Uber insightful they were.
What is Reiki?
Reiki is a Japanese energy healing technique rooted in the principle of universal life force energy. The word itself translates to “universal life energy” (Rei = universal, Ki = energy), and it works by channeling this energy through the hands of a practitioner to help clear energetic blockages, balance the body, and promote self-healing.
At its core, Reiki is about reconnecting, to your body, your mind, your soul, and the energy of the universe. It’s not about “fixing” you, because you’re not broken. Reiki reminds you of the wholeness that has always been within you, gently illuminating the path back to your true self.
My Journey into the Light -
Years passed, life unfolded, and along the way, I experienced moments that humbled me, shaped me, and cracked me wide open. As painful as some of those experiences were, they prepared me for something greater, the realisation that healing is a journey inward, not outward. When I finally stepped into my first Reiki attunement for Level 1 training, I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect. What I found was profound.
The attunement itself felt like a homecoming. It was as if I had been holding my breath for years and was finally allowed to exhale. Through Reiki, I began to see myself in a new light, not as a list of flaws to fix or past mistakes to regret, but as a soul navigating its way back to wholeness.
Reiki isn’t just about lying on a table and receiving energy. It’s a journey, a spiritual unfolding. It teaches you to slow down, to listen deeply to what your body is telling you, and to release what no longer serves you. With every session, you peel back the layers of stress, trauma, and fear, reconnecting to the quiet truth at your center.
The Inner Transformation -
Reiki opens you to a new way of being. It’s subtle yet profound, like sunlight melting away frost. You begin to notice small changes, a softer approach to life, a greater capacity for love, and an ability to hold space for yourself in moments of difficulty.
For me, Reiki taught me to listen. It showed me that healing doesn’t come from fighting against myself but from learning to flow with life. It brought clarity to the chaos and helped me understand that the power to heal was always within me.
This practice is so much more than an energy treatment, it’s an invitation. Reiki invites you to return home to yourself, to embrace the parts of you you’ve hidden away, and to step into a light that has always been there, waiting.
Healing into You -
Whether you’re seeking peace, relief from stress, or simply a deeper connection with yourself, Reiki offers a space for transformation. It’s not a quick fix or a magic cure; it’s a journey of self-discovery and self-love.
If you’re feeling the call to heal, to grow, or to simply be, trust it. Reiki is a gift you give to yourself, a reminder that you are whole, you are worthy, and you are already enough.
Step into the Reiki light, and let it guide you home. I cannot even begin to explain or recommend a reiki treatment. The only way to experience it is to feel it. That's the clue reiki brings us back to feeling to the emotions that society tells us to hide.
